Professional Relations: Fall 2009
On November 18, 2009 I took a huge group of students to Milwaukee to Crown Plaza Hotel for Professional Relations.  We usually attend two of these events a semester and the turnout is around 5 people when we go.  However, to this event we brought 14 people!  The 14 of us all got to the hotel dressed in our business professional attire.  Once there, we networked with all the professionals and business owners from the area that were in attendance.  Once everyone got situated and seated at a table they served us incredible food.  After a few minutes of eating, Eric Waldingera, a speaker from Aquent started giving a speech about managing your brand online.  He advised us of strategies we could use to keep a business appealing to the consumer.  One example of this was how a person could manage search engines like Google or Bing.  The speaker told us how to put the good reviews of our product/brand at beginning of the search results when typed in by a potential consumer.  This is very valuable to have because most consumers, even if they buy in a store, research the product/brand online first.  Once the speaker was done talking there was time for questions and many important questions were answered.  I talked with many of the students after the event and they all said that they learned a lot, and some of the students even got business cards to contact future employers!  This event was a great success!
